01. CONTEXT

01. CONTEXT

I was approached by the good folks from THNDR Studio to design the album cover for their first EP. The challenge here was: How do you design a visual that matches the vibe of the diverse music from each composer? How do you come up with a name that captures the essence of each of them?

Thus, the process I used here was to continuously listen to the sample sketches that each composer made. This allowed me to come up with different sketches that could encapsulate the different shapes, rhythms, and other elements I imagined, as the music was the reference.

Therefore I chose not to create a moodboard at the beginning, to prevent getting influenced by it. Only at later stages, when the concept was 80% there, I used color references from other images.

In the end, this resulted in a playful, vibrant visual outcome, with a multitude of graphical elements to encapsulate the rhythmic melody of each uniquely made piece of music from the composers.
